About
Shiver Therapy

Everyone needs a little help sometimes. When you're struggling, you deserve to be believed, understood, and met with empathy. Our therapist, Ty Shiver, believes each person is created healthy and whole, and that adverse experiences can impact us. Ty genuinely enjoys teaming up with her clients to guide them back to their original, joyful, and healthy selves.
Ty's practice welcomes clients from age 4 to adulthood. For children, she uses play therapy—their natural language—to help them express feelings, process experiences, and develop coping skills. For older children, adolescents, adults, and families, Ty is dedicated to helping them find more adaptive ways to thrive, whether through developing practical skills, supporting parents in creating a peaceful home, or navigating personal challenges. She also enjoys working with college-aged adults during their pivotal time of self-discovery, and is passionate about supporting women through various life stages, including postpartum, parenting, marriage, and broader women's issues.

Our
Approach
At Shiver Therapy, we respect the unique story of each client, meeting everyone with compassion and understanding. Drawing on training in child development and extensive experience helping overwhelmed adults, parents, and struggling children, we partner with you to find solutions that lead to hope, healing, and freedom. We'll work together as a team to discover what truly works for you and your family.
Areas of Expertise
When Ty Shiver works with clients, she tailors her approach to their unique needs, considering factors like age and presenting concerns. She is trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Child-Centered Play Therapy, and Unified Protocol for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders for Children and Adolescents (UP-C/A). Ty believes every maladaptive behavior once served a purpose, and she is here to help clients explore behaviors that serve them better in the present.
Specifications

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
At its heart, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) helps you understand the powerful connection between your thoughts, feelings, and actions. In a collaborative space, you'll learn to recognize and reshape tricky thought patterns that might be holding you back. This empowers you to build resilience, find brighter paths forward, and create positive changes for a more fulfilling, joyful life.

Child
Play Therapy
Play therapy is incredibly important for children because play is their natural language and how they make sense of their world. Unlike adults, children often don't have the words or the emotional maturity to tell us about complex feelings or experiences. Through play, little ones can freely express themselves, process difficult situations, and develop crucial coping skills in a safe and wonderfully supportive environment. This unique approach gently guides them toward healing, growth, and building the strong emotional and social foundation they need to truly thrive.

Unified Protocol for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders for Children and Adolescents (UP-C/A)
The Unified Protocol for Transdiagnostic Treatment of Emotional Disorders for Children and Adolescents (UP-C/A) offers an efficient and effective way to help young people struggling with emotional challenges by addressing common underlying vulnerabilities across various disorders like anxiety and depression. Instead of treating each issue separately, UP-C/A focuses on teaching core emotional management skills, including understanding emotions, mindfulness, cognitive flexibility, and approaching difficult feelings rather than avoiding them. This "transdiagnostic" approach streamlines treatment, demonstrating strong effectiveness, and empowers both youth and families with practical, evidence-based strategies, building lasting resilience for long-term emotional health.
